These TI-Nspire graphing calculators will give these Title I students with the resources they need to become successful in this class and in college. Currently, with our district being low income, we are required to give the students everything they need to do the work in their class. These AP students take the initiative and bring most of their school supplies, but it is hard to require they purchase an expensive, but necessary and functional, calculator for the course.
We currently have a mismatch of calculators, with the oldest being a TI-82- from 1993... It makes it hard to teach how to use the calculator when everyone is on a different piece of technology. Being able to do some functions quickly, and very quickly with the TI-Nspires, we can learn to focus on the more conceptual piece of the course material, and help the students become creative problem solvers instead of robots punching numbers into formulas and equations with no context.
