I am so excited to get my kindergartners ready for a world of problem-solving. They are at that age when they are curious and eager to help. I feel that I have a wonderful opportunity to model problem-solving and collaborative skills with my students.
I will be using the STEM kits to encourage my students to THINK out loud and share their ideas with their classmates. We will have several stations set up each day for students to collaborate in. They will move from these stations when they have designed, created, and tested their ideas. I will tie my content areas into each station so that they are learning as much as possible while there. I also will be encouraging them to write and draw about their experiences so that their families can learn with them. I am excited about all of the opportunities for my students to learn how to solve problems and eventually change the world. My first task will be to take their photos with the safety glasses and put them around the room. They will then think they are TRUE scientists.
