I love seeing students find a book they can get lost in. On Fridays we turn off all the lights and have flashlight Friday. Independent reading has so many academic benefits. Literacy is connected to every subject, it is the foundation for all students. I am personally a lifelong reader and want to show my students the joy of reading. It is wonderful to see students laugh while they read or want to share about their book with a friend. My classroom library continues to grow and I love being able to have something to interest every student!
