I teach 11th graders at the historic Manassas High School, where our motto is "Excellence every day without excuses."
My students are engaged, resilient, growth-oriented, inquisitive, driven, conscious, tenacious and most of all, BRILLIANT.
Our class regularly reads, analyzes and discusses content rooted in law, history, society, culture, politics and policy, and juxtaposes foundational texts of American literature and history with current events and modern social movements.
We are a Title 1 school and have a merging school culture. That, along with the incredible challenges the community of Manassas and greater North Memphis face, has prompted many of my students to think critically about their roles as students, lifelong-learners, soon-to-be adults, community members, and leaders. They would like to meet collectively after school to support each other in addressing the challenges of their transitions.
