When I asked my students how they could be more active at school they immediately said they would like more choices at recess {for active play}. They had many great ideas and agreed that team sports would be perfect for fifth grade.
Healthy, physically active kids are more likely to be academically motivated, alert, and successful.
My students will be thrilled to have a new basketball, football, soccer ball and weights at recess to replace old or missing equipment and provide activity for exercise and team play. I am excited for my students to have activities that they chose and will prevent them from being bored or frustrated.
When kids enjoy an activity, they'll do it a lot, get better at it, feel accomplished, and want to do it even more.
