My hope is that by implementing a variety of methods and strategies to aide them in reducing distractions, my students could maintain a stronger and longer lasting focus to my direct instruction and independent work assignments. Through the use of the standing desks, chair bands, exercise ball, and wobble chair, I plan on implementing a schedule on a rotating basis of the equipment for students who have been diagnosed as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or display those tendencies. Currently in my classroom, the most I can do is direct my students to stand up and complete their assignments. It just isn't enough! Movements using these "tools" will assist them in exerting the energy they have, which in turn provides them with more focus on the task.
