This is my 7th year teaching the Autism Preschool Program at Leona Cox Community Elementary School. This program is a preschool class for students with severe autism, on a Title 1 school campus. My preschool students are an incredible group of students and they never cease to amaze me with their determination to try to learn. Each student that comes into my classroom, brings a smile to my face. The characteristics of my students consist of non-verbal and very limited verbal language, behaviors that can make it difficult for them to learn, sensory needs, limited eye contact and a lack of social skills. Even though my students have special needs, I feel rewarded in even the smallest amounts of progress that I see everyday!
