I teach in a 5th grade Special Education inclusion classroom in a Title I school. Many of my students are also English Language Learners and represent several Central American and Middle Eastern countries. I believe that every child should have the opportunity to be inspired to learn. I give my students the chance to be curious and then help guide them to new understandings of the world around them. Children come to school with a lot of worries - food, shelter, past educational experiences (or lack thereof), their own disabilities, family issues, etc. I strive to create a safe learning environment in which each child is encouraged to be creative, to think deeply, and to dream big.
