Our peer mentor classroom is a blank canvas ready to be filled with elements that will turn an uninspiring room into a warm, inviting space where our students feel safe and special.
One of the fundamental needs of all people is a sense of connection with those around them. Sharing activities together is one simple way to foster connection. This is where those games and art supplies will come in handy. They provide a jumping off point for conversations and bonding opportunities between our mentors and students. The sensory toys are useful for promoting a sense of calm or giving busy hands something to do in order to enhance focusing abilities.
We want to create a space where our students feel a sense of belonging and connection and each of the items on our wish list will help with that!
