I'm about to become a teacher to an extraordinary group of fourth graders! Class lists have just been made, and every one is chock full of bright, sweet young people! I can't wait to meet and get to know each and every one of them in August! One of my goals is to make the class environment as warm and exciting as I can for my incredible students. I want them to see how important books and reading are to me...and the best way to do this is to FILL THE ROOM WITH BOOKS! I'm collecting from generous friends, teachers, and librarians, keeping my eyes peeled for deals, and scouting garage sales because these sweet kiddos deserve an incredible reading experience this year! Our school is an awesome neighborhood K-8, and we've recently opened our doors and our hearts to many students who've traditionally struggled with school. We are ecstatic to welcome our new students, and we want to make sure we're doing everything we can to make their educational experience fantastic! My Project I recently read Donalyn Miller's INCREDIBLE book, *The Book Whisperer,* and found myself standing at my desk, yelling, "I HAVE TO DO THIS NEXT YEAR!" The basic idea is that teachers need to make students fall in LOVE WITH READING! There's no shortcut or magic formula--just good, old-fashioned time spent reading books that interest them!
