The calculators will allow my students to check their answers. Students are currently sharing calculators with one another. Many of the calculators are not the basic function calculators. This is will prevent the computational mistakes and allow students to work on the process of the problem. Some of our units, students are allowed to use calculators in solving the problems. Calculators are a resource that students can use in their everyday lives. As a district, we are raising our levels of expectations and word problems are becoming more difficult for our students. Students are encouraged to analyze the problem and learn the proper steps to take in solving the problem.
