The W High Biotechnology Club and Competition Team is made up of students who love science and technology. We meet every other Monday and one Saturday a month to learn and practice gel electrophoresis.
Right now we are practicing with very limited equipment, which is a definite disadvantage when it comes to understanding the labs and doing well in our competition. The particular problem is that currently I have 25+ students sharing two very old micropipettes. A set of six would definitely help the students to practice and become more familiar with common instruments used in a professional laboratory. Also, we currently borrow a light box from a single department. The borrowed light box is very small and shared by the entire group. It would be much easier for students to view and analyze their gels if we had two light boxes of out own. I know that the supplies I have requested will be not only much appreciated, but extensively put to use for years to come. Every year the team gets larger and larger, and our supplies get older and more worn out. We would be extremely grateful for help of any kind!
