Research shows a key element of improving student literacy is finding engaging and appropriate texts to ensure students look forward to independent reading time. These brand new novels will make my students even more excited about reading, which brings them one step closer to becoming lifelong readers. Every day I try to carve out at least fifteen minutes of independent reading. By doing so, I hope to foster the bond between my students and the power of the written word.
