I am a Montessori teacher at a public urban elementary school. Our classroom consists of 26 children in grades 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Children are given the freedom to choose what they work on throughout the day with a variety of beautiful Montessori materials. Children are welcome to work individually at desks, in small groups at tables or on the floor. Children are given lessons based on their individual needs. The beauty of having a multi-age classroom is that children learn from one another and learn how to help each other with tasks in the classroom. It's truly amazing to see children of different ages caring and helping one another with their work.
