Kindergarten students are learning through play-we call it using manipulatives!
Manipuatives allow students to bridge abstract, concrete, and representational learning in a developmentally appropriate way, thus ensuring a strong literacy, scientific, and numeracy foundations.
Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Science, and Mathematical patterns must be manipulated before a young student can understand the abstractness of the reading, writing, science, and the numeracy world they are trying to successfully navigate.
All of the manipulatives donated to our classroom will serve all classroom kindergartners. These materials will remain in the classroom and all students will have access to them in both whole group instruction and again in small group instruction and intervention.
We thank you for helping us build a community of learners, problem solvers, explorers, and communicators.
