I teach awesome teenagers who need a boost to compete with students from more affluent schools and prosperous areas. We are also in danger of going into needs improvement if we do not make AYP this year. We have migrant, ESOL students as well as a large low socioeconomic population. Many of our students have not traveled far from home, and those that do may not have the opportunity to explore and experience the places they go. Not all of our students have access to computers at home. They need the exposure to technology. When they get to college, they may be or feel behind. My students need every chance to succeed, including the chance to complete amazing work while in college. They need the confidence and the skills to do so.
