I love incorporating novels into my reading class to help my students find a love for reading. By using novels, my students are able to practice skills that we have learned in class and develop their reading skills along with a love of learning through a book that was one of my favorites at their age. I have tried having students share copies that I buy on my own, but they become easily distracted and less focused because they are trying to keep pace with their partner. With each student having their own copy of Bud Not Buddy, I can do flexible grouping or whole group instruction to help my students love novels.
