My students reside in an area with one of the highest clusters of COVID 19 infection rates in the country. The families are gripped with fear and many have not allowed their children to leave their homes for over 4 weeks. They are only are they fearful, they also do not understand the importance of outdoor learning and movement and the positive affects it can have on brain development, immunity, motor development and mental health. The materials I am requesting will allow parents to feel more confident as teachers.
The materials will help provide universal access for both my diverse/special education learners and general education students to complete remote learning assignments. Students will use magnifiers, binoculars, tweezers and scoops to make tree and insect observations, and colored pencils and journals to record their observations. They will strengthen large muscles when they use their jump ropes to move, count and build balance and coordination.
