Hello! I am a first year high school teacher in Depew Oklahoma. I teach 8th, 10th, & 11th grade English Language Arts as well as a Pre-Algebra class. Our town has a population of 476 people and our students are often limited in their experiences outside our community. This year we have strived to explore new material outside our comfort zones studying "To Kill a Mockingbird" with the 8th grade, "The Life of Pi" with 10th grade and "Catcher in the Rye" and "Othello" with the 11th grade. The amount of materials and funding our classroom has access to is extremely limited and I am in desperate need of outside help. In the image above our school took the 8th grade class to watch a production of "To Kill a Mockingbird" 19 students paid for their own ticket to attend. These young people desire and deserve more opportunities to discover and explore their young minds!
