In order to teach my students, they must be engaged in what they are learning. We need a variety of literacy activities that will help me teach letters, sounds, & phonological awareness. Some of the materials that will be purchased include Float & Find Alphabet Bubbles, Alphabet Rockets, Alphabet Bowling, etc. The Float & Find Alphabet Bubbles set includes 26 watertight plastic bubbles that help kids identify letters & letter sounds from A to Z. Kids simply select a floating bubble from the water, peek inside to see an upper- & a lowercase letter…then flip the bubble over to see an image representing the matching beginning sound. The Alphabet Rockets has 26 three-piece rockets. Kids match up pieces to build the rocket --exploring letter sounds as they play. Each rocket features the uppercase letter, the lowercase letter & four pictures that represent the letter sound. Children build fine motor skills& develop skills in alphabet recognition & beginning sounds. There are tons of ways for kids to learn with the action-packed alphabet bowling game. Children simply set up the soft foam, freestanding letters like pins, then choose a game…from identifying letters to creating simple words. Then, they roll the foam ball & strike the letters down to get hands-on practice with alphabet skills. Activities like these are what build great readers & writers later on. We will use these materials on a daily basis during small group learning time as well as in centers for students to use with a partner.
