By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student engagement and access to mathematics, you will ultimately help students to have a deeper understanding of math by incorporating technology into the lesson. Students can participate in interactive math games, students can get immediate feedback on their responses, and students can see how real life problems can be modeled using math.
This laptop will allow me to come up with more engaging and interactive lessons so that all students can have access to the material. By showing and modeling the free online resource such as a graphing calculator, students can grapple with the concept and the application of the mathematics rather than spend majority of the time on computations. Students can see the patterns more quickly, compare and contrast graphs and equations more efficiently, and use online manipulatives such as Algebra Tiles.
I can also create more engaging and interactive tasks using technology to increase student dialogue about math. When students are solving problem in pairs and groups using technology, the mathematical dialogue is much richer because they can focus on the concepts.
