My students cannot all pay $10 for a book to read in class. Printing out the book for each student is costly since we are limited on copy paper. We are in a high poverty area, and the students just simply do not have the spare money to purchase books every time we read. I believe it would benefit the students to have a book they can hold in their hands and read without the worry of having to purchase it Having a class set of The Great Gatsby will give my students the green light of hope and introduce them to the meaning of the American dream.
