My classroom will be made up of 20 amazing first graders who come from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and ability-levels. My experience in teaching has often lead me to work with students with ACE's (adverse childhood experiences), severe disabilities, distrust of school, and general anxieties regarding day-to-day school activities. My teaching philosophy is strongly based in community experiences and building interpersonal relationships. In my classroom, students learn to be leaders, teammates, activists, unique individuals, amazing students, and even more incredible humans! I foster a strong sense of love and support through a familial atmosphere in the classroom which, in turn, creates a safe and structured environment for ALL students. When students enter and leave my classroom, they have a sense of safety, respect, and confidence to handle anything that school or life throws their way.
