Our news crew will be using these items to create and develop the school news. My goal is for our news show to be completely created and run by our students.
Using these materials, students will learn how to record, edit, and publish the school news. The iPads, protected by their covers, will be used for our news crew to record the school announcements; allowing them to work on their reading skills using a prompter as well as building their collaboration and public speaking skills as they work together as news anchors. We will have a Creative Director who will guide students in these areas and build his or her own personal leadership abilities. Students will use the iPads and the stand to record the news show to make sure it reveals a clear picture and sound and is easy for viewers to understand.
The iPads will also be used as editing technology for the news crew to put the show together. We will be using a green screen editor where our crew will learn to input the recording, create usable backgrounds that tie in with the different news pieces being discussed, add the backgrounds into the video, and add in transitions. They will also learn how to cut and splice pieces of the video together to benefit the final product.
This will allow them to work collaboratively, as well as, build public speaking and technology skills that will aid them in future careers.
The development of their school news show will give my students the opportunity to learn what it feels like to be able to take ownership of a project and to take pride in their work, efforts, and accomplishments.
