My students come from low income families and do not have enough books at home. Some do not even own one book. What they do have is a desire to learn. I have a set up a classroom library that students can use to take books home. They are allowed to exchange daily and can take comprehension tests on the computer daily. Once they get started, It is difficult to keep enough books on the shelf to meet their needs and interests. These books will increase their options as well as provide more non-fiction choices. All students deserve the opportunity to develop a love of reading!
