First grade isn't what it used to be. Students are being prepared for the competitive world from day one. By the end of the year, all students have to be able to count and group objects up to 130. These first grade students attend a public school in rural Georgia, and need all the help they can get. We are a Title I school, and the majority of students receive free or reduced lunches. With the challenges that our students face on a daily basis, we want to give them every opportunity to succeed, as early as we can. The poverty cycle can stop here!
