If there's one thing all Seniors have in common at this point in the school year, it's anxiety! Our district's 4th quarter curriculum focuses on the "Age of Anxiety" in British Literature, using "1984" by George Orwell, "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka, and selected poems, short stories, and essays representative of the feelings of uncertainty in early 20th century society.
Unfortunately for us, every single copy of "1984" owned by the district is in use. Without providing copies to my students in class, I will have no way of guaranteeing everyone has a book of their own to read. Using an e-book or other electronic copy of the novel would be ideal, but unfortunately, not all students here have a reliable internet connection at home or a device to read on.
With your help, we can ensure each student has the necessary material to explore the timely themes of this classic novel!
**As an added incentive, the books chosen for this project also contain a copy of "Animal Farm", which would be taught concurrently to my Sophomore English students as part of their 4th quarter "European Literature" unit. Two birds, one stone!
