My classroom is not a place where kids come to punch the clock on their education ticket.
It is a place where they explore things they never knew existed. A place where "WOW!" is a regularly used word. Where they are encouraged to take the road less traveled. To try and fail and try again because mistakes are what we are actually learning from. Where sparks of imagination fly and start wildfires of ardent inquiry and learning. Where their worries in life are put to rest because anything is possible in my room.
These kids persistent in a way that is rare to find in most adults. They ask for nothing and deserve everything. You might say my job is to teach these kids, but if you ask me, my job requires three things: instill a love of learning, guide them in their own discovery, and shape a child of today into a global citizen of tomorrow.
I hope, with your help, we can open doors they didn't know were there.
