A mural is a big, important project. The requested materials will allow my students to make a mural after participating in a field trip that exposed them to that unique experience. It will bring a whole different approach to our art class. The special paint, as well as the clear varnish are essential to this project. We requested only a few colors to keep the costs of the project low. We can make more colors using these as a base. The small containers will minimize the risk of wasting paint due to the drying process. If using any other paint, the mural will not last as long as we want it to last. We need several brushes because the rough texture of the wall destroys the hair of the brushes very quickly. These materials will complete what we need to make this dream a reality.
Our children will have the opportunity to grow, and share in the community pride by saying: " I was part of the group that created that mural that now identifies our neighborhood school". This project will give our senior students an opportunity to showcase their talent and abilities, and also give them a sense of accomplishment by completing a big project and working as a team. It is important to teach teamwork and camaraderie as part of a holistic educational experience that includes more than instruction, and making this mural will be a great moment to do so.
