I will use the 3D printer and supplies after my students prototype our robot in the 3D CAD software Auto Desk Inventor 2017. We can make models to create a prototype from so we do not waste valuable time and materials. We can test the model to see if it works the way it is supposed to and then go on to make a working prototype using the valuable supplies from the BEST and SeaPerch challenge. 3D printers save time and help us to solve problems when we use the engineering design process to brainstorm and build our prototype and robot.
Students will learn how to use the 3D printer technology, which is advancing every day in every field of engineering. Industries are using this technology to print everything from prototypes, food, human organs, skin, spare parts, etc. 3D printers are expanding in every industry, and students need to know how to use them to be competitive in the workforce.
