Our students are taught about the history of significant people and battles that occurred in our state. One of these battles took place in the city near us! The Battle of the Alamo! We want to take our students to the old mission in order to bring the classroom into the historic site. They will now have an experience to relate to the academic content. Taking the child out of the neighborhood will also give the student a real-world experience, instead of showing them videos or illustrations. Instruction will be implemented and woven throughout the activities provided. These extended lessons will further the understanding of the content because now the children have a personal experience with the vocabulary, historical figures, and relevant life-style of this time period.
