I am a Speech-Language Pathologist working for the New York City Department of Education in a school in Queens. I work in District 75, which encompasses students with moderate-severe developmental, cognitive, sensory, and/or emotional disorders. My students are 14-21 years old and are some of the hardest workers I have ever met! Despite their various circumstances, they come to school every day eager to learn. My school focuses on vocational and functional life skills to help our students prepare for life once they transition out of the Department of Education, while also targeting the necessary academic work that will be most functional for them.
