My class of 30 students has blown me away with their enthusiasm for learning this year. I have loved watching their minds grow and transform into curious first graders. My classroom is 99% Hispanic, and nearly half of my students are English Language Learners. Our school population is predominately low-income and most of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Located on the West side of Chicago's Belmont- Cragin neighborhood, the average annual income of our families is around $20,000.
Our school names each classroom after the teacher's alma mater. My first graders are proud to represent Columbia College Chicago!
