Students in my school do not have materials on a regular basis. A small number begin the school year with some things, but not much. Throughout the year, I supply them with pencils, markers, journals, etc. Sometimes, the school will provide a pack of pencils to classroom teachers that ask, but this is rare. Rather than spending time trying to come up with something with which to write, I would rather them work on science, communicating with peers, writing, reading, and learning. We need pencils and markers! I need to refill my supply stash and pencils don't go on sale again until the summer. Typically, I spend $1000 each summer stocking up on everything the kids will need for the year. This would help allay the costs and provide more funding for me to use towards more meaningful school projects like my camping organization, student lunches, etc.
