I teach a small group of students with varied special needs...anything from learning disabilities, to MID to ED. The traditional classroom of desks and chairs is not what is my best for my kiddos. These kids need to move...and often! Having flexible seating allows them to have choice, to be more comfortable and to move and wiggle their bodies without being distracting or disruptive.
My hope is that with flexible seating, my students can be more productive and better focused. Lap desks and clip boards will allow them to sit on bean bags or floor pillows. The yoga balls are great for students with ADHD or sensory needs. The rugs will allow us more seating options in our limited space.
