I teach rural public elementary school in Northeast Ohio. My students come from backgrounds that range from high poverty situations to upper middle class. For many of my students, the art that I provide them is the only art they ever get. Many of our families have a hard time affording the paper and art supplies a child would need to go beyond what I offer at school. So my hope is that this project allows me to offer the maximum art experience for every student so that they develop a stronger sense of creativity and problem solving skills that will help not only in my classroom, but in their other subjects as well.
