鈥淏eing in the classroom and learning about photography in that environment is just a starting point,鈥 鈥淯nless you can get out of the classroom and actually get your hands on equipment you鈥檙e not going to fully understand.鈥
With this new equipment, the students鈥 experience photography in the real world and work environment. They can have first hand experience of working as a photographer or assistant. This class offers students the ability to secure an internship at a photo lab or studio. The tripods are a mandatory part of a studio shoot. The students have no ability to work with or understand the function and necessity of tripod use if they do not have the equipment to lean with. Right now we barely have enough cameras for them to use on an individual basis and tripods are a necessity that we just cant afford. Tripods and light reflectors are mandatory for outside photo shoots. They extend the ability of the cameras and decrease the need for external lights. It is important for the students to have hand on experience with the same equipment they may use when they do their volunteer work a or internships. This equipment will offer them that experience.
It will give them an incredible learning experience, they can really learned a lot about camera settings and lighting, on location situations and how to run a professional scene.
As students, it can be difficult to fully grasp just how lucky we are to have people who will support our programs in this way. We can definitely say that we appreciate this new equipment, as it will allowed them to learn a lot more than they could have ever learned in the classroom.
