In my classroom, students show their thinking in a multitude of ways. While sitting on the rug, engaging in a lesson it is important to be able to make sure the students are able to understand the concept as well as give students the opportunity for their ideas to be know.
Whiteboards and post-it notes are just a few of the ways that my students are able to show what they know in my classroom. Using the whiteboards, students can hold up their answers and display them to the rest of the class, allowing for a sharing of ideas that is both more efficient and reaches more of the students than the traditional hand raising. Post-it notes allow students to share their personal goals, and change them when they are reached, as well as allowing them react and add to a topic.
Students who are always working hard and putting in 100% effort are rewarded. My students love a little sweet treat to celebrate a job well done.
