Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their own learning and make the choices about where they work that allows them to do their best work. During independent work times, my students choose a location in the classroom that best supports their learning, that is not necessarily at their own desk. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: different tables, sitting under tables with clip boards, or sitting or laying on the floor with a clip board. If students are able to sit in comfortable areas, their learning improves drastically.
