I am requesting LEGO Community Starter Sets and storage cases so that each table of students in the library can use the LEGO sets for a variety of activities. The LEGO community starter sets include almost 2,000 bricks, windows, wheels, and minifigures--everything children need to build their own stories. The LEGO kits will be used to teach concepts like sequencing, parts of a story, point of view, and personal storytelling. Building with the LEGO sets will also help students practice their collaboration and communication skills.
With the LEGO sets, students can model or retell parts of stories that we read in the library, develop and model their own stories, and prototype solutions to problems identified in stories and articles we read. Storytelling and problem solving with Lego gives students a non-traditional, hands-on way to express and share their ideas and knowledge.
