Having iPads in the classroom allows quicker connectivity time to apps and material, such as Quizlet, Kahoot, Plickers, etc. which promotes more time on task. Students who finish work early have an opportunity to learn new vocabulary and/or reinforce current or old vocabulary and culture on various apps. In addition, iPads give an option for usage of technology if a student’s laptop dies or they left it at home.
The use of technology promotes group work through partner activities, stations, speed competitions, etc and having a few iPads allows for students to interact together as opposed to independently on laptops. Lastly, students would have access to language apps only accessible on Apple interface, such as iMovie (for projects), Plickers, Gus German, Triposo Germany, Triposo Austria, Triposo Switzerland, Montessori Geography and many more.
