Dramatic play in kindergarten is essential to helping students practice taking turns, including others, patience, and problem solving skills. They can make connections in math, reading, and writing, all while playing and learning valuable social skills. By having a dramatic play area, students are able to build their imagination and foster friendships in the classroom.
The dramatic play area will engage all areas of learning for my students. I will bring in menus, recipes, grocery lists, and invitations to encourage students to go even deeper into their learning while in a safe environment that is low stress. This area gives them chances to explore what we have learned in the classroom in an open-ended environment without fear of failure.
