Students need the opportunity to express themselves. With vivid colors, my students will explore watercolor techniques. We will paint wet-in-wet, gradated washes, dry brush and utilize salt and resist techniques.
Our main subject matter will be painting beautiful still life arrangements. We will use the casts both to study and build our drawing skills and also to include in the still life compositions. After spending time working on drawing and painting techniques we will discuss color theory. Students will then have the chance to compose their paintings and add color to bring them to life. We will look at some watercolor still life masters as well, such as Janet Fish and Sondra Freckleton.
