Technology is such a huge important component in children's lives today. Having an iPad in the classroom will help my students show off their work through different apps and programs that they cannot get on a classroom computer. They will be able to take the iPad to their seats and document their work to show not only me, but also their parents. It will also help them learn new skills in reading and math through different apps.
My students absolutely love listening to stories and writing about what they have read. A listening center will allow independent reading practice for my students as they read along with their books. Journals will help them learn to write with creativity and respond to stories they have read at the listening center. Journals also show their progress in writing throughout the year. I am also requesting TIME For Kids, a weekly classroom news magazine that motivates kids to read. This is a theme-based edition that helps build early literacy skills and gets students excited about reading with student interactive activities.
