In my math classroom, we move our students along the CRA model (from concrete to representation to abstract). Students thrive when they are able to see how abstract math problems can be solved in concrete ways. Using storage carts, our students will have these manipulatives at their fingertips at any moment. Students will have access to the materials they need without needing to interrupt or waste any class time. The drawers will be used to hold calculators, manipulatives, colored pencils, and any other resources middle school students need. My students will be able to use the resources they need at any time in order to succeed in math.
