My students love to come to school. If we are able to add a carpet and cozy chairs to our library area it would make the area more inviting to my students. Everyone wants to curl up with a good book and be comfortable. These chairs would be perfect!
Reading books aloud stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. When the rhythm and melody of language become a part of a child's life, learning to read will be as natural as learning to walk and talk. As a Pre-K teacher, I know that play a critical role in promoting literacy, preventing reading difficulties, and preparing young children for kindergarten. Adding furniture to our classroom library will encourage more students to visit the area and explore books. Young children are like sponges. Every day they learn skills that will help them become readers. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word.
