In elementary math, hands-on manipulatives are critical for making long-lasting understandings. The materials such as base ten blocks and measuring tapes are supplies my students will need at both home and school. My students will need individual supplies, and I plan to have them keep these to travel between home and school during our hybrid learning. However, time is now running short to provide home supplies, as it was announced we will start online in the fall. For me to teach enduring understandings, the students will be better supported with these supplies. The dry erase boards provide a space to practice our writing, phonics, math talk work, and more. The growth mindset journals are my favorite, as these students have major hurdles ahead, dealing with the current and aftershocks of this time in our community and also with online learning starting in the fall. I would love to use these journals to share and build upon our social-emotional time in morning meetings. Thank you for helping make their learning more accessible.
