Research has shown that flexible seating can greatly improve the concentration and thereby success of students with special needs. My students with disabilities have a variety of needs, and therefore should have an equal variety of seating choices to help them be successful in the classroom. They will also benefit from the use of fidgets and therapy putty to aid in concentration.
Students will have the ability to choose from stability balls, wobble stools, or bean bag seating during independent reading and work time. The ability to move and work will enhance the learning environment for all. Having the ability to choose how to be successful will empower them with self-confidence for their future.
