Walking into my classroom, you will encounter multiple Kagan strategies because it encourages collaboration and discussions. When students discuss during, not only do students listen to the way others think but also, share and formulate their own conclusions. Therefore, our learning environment is respectful and welcoming to all ideas. Las Vegas is a melting pot of cultures and Thiriot is no exception. My students do not have the luxury of traveling and building background knowledge through experience. Thus, we are learning and growing from each other. My students support and understand one another while agreeing and respectfully disagree with each other. We are a Title 1 school in an inner city, which means we have a low socioeconomic population. Many are new to this country, experiencing a classroom for the first time. The two biggest challenges my students face are lack of technology and lack of experience.
