In our classroom we have flexible seating. What this means is students get to choose the type of seating option that helps them to be the most successful. Think of it as walking into your favorite coffee shop. Will you sit in the comfy chair? Will you sit at the high top? Will you sit on the porch swing? Will you sit at a standard table with a standard chair? Much like we as adults appreciate having seating options when we sit down to work, kids do too! I like to help them out by having different options for them. So far in our classroom, we have a yoga ball table, floor desks with pillows, standing desks, and still some traditional desks and chairs. I would like to expand on this and obtain some new seating options for next school year. Studies show that when given choice, kids (and most people) thrive! Studies also show that when we allow kids to move and sit comfortably while learning, they are more likely to focus, pay attention, and stay motivated. I do this for them, but I need your help.
